Criteria for Induction

Influence
Has the nominee's influence been of major significance to the industry even though contributions may have been confined largely to a single field of specialization?

Permanence
Is it probable that the nominee's accomplishments will continue to be valued into the future? Those involved in the selection of Hall of Fame inductees should give some consideration to how likely it is that future historians of American physique competition will consider the contributions of the nominee noteworthy.

Procedures for Selection of Inductees

Screening of Nominations
Every nomination received by the Hall of Fame will be reviewed by the Board to determine whether the nominee meets the criteria for induction into the Hall of Fame as established by the Board. Every nominee receiving three or more favorable votes from the Board will be included among the candidates voted upon that year.

Balloting
Balloting will be conducted among the members of the Board each year to determine nominees to be officially considered for induction into the Hall of Fame. Each member of the Board will cast up to eight votes for candidates who were nominated, and who received three or more favorable votes from the Board upon nomination, and rank those individuals in order of preference ("1" being their first choice). Ranking by committee members shall be used only to break ties. To achieve consistency in style and format, the materials submitted in support of each nomination can be edited prior to the voting by a person designated by the Chairperson. Additional materials, if needed, may be solicited from the nominator or from other sources. Any Board member who believes that important and relevant information is missing from the curriculum vitae of a nominee distributed with the ballot may submit that information to the Chairperson for consideration for inclusion in subsequent balloting cycles.

Reporting Results
Names receiving the most votes from the Board will become finalists for possible induction into the Hall of Fame. Names advancing to final considerations must have received votes from at least three of the Board members.

Retention in the Pool of Candidates
Every nominee in the candidate pool receiving one or more votes in the balloting will be continued in the pool of candidates for the succeeding years. However, a nominee who fails to receive at least three votes in each of three consecutive years will be dropped from the pool. Any nominee dropped from the pool may be re-nominated.

Number of Inductees
A maximum of three people will be inducted annually.

Induction Ceremonies
Induction ceremonies will take place annually around March/April at a location specified by the Board.

Proceedings Confidential
The names of persons who are nominated for election, but who are not elected as such, shall not be disclosed at any time to any person (including those who are nominated) other than members of the Board.

No member of the Board shall disclose to any person how any member of the Board voted on the election of any particular candidate (including particulars of balloting).

After the Board has completed all balloting for the names of successful candidates, the Chairman or some other person designated by the Board for the purpose shall then release the names of those elected to the public.
